The Chevelle Dream Giveaway, a nationwide drawing sponsored by New Beginning Children's Homes, ended on April 30, 2020. Virginia Simon, from Florida, is the grand-prize winner of a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport SS454 plus $20,000 towards the prize taxes! The sweepstakes benefited eight amazing charities.
On April 13, 2020, Mrs. Simon made a donation to win the giveaway. Little did she know that she had the winning ticket. "I believe people's needs are great," she said. "Many people just seem to fall to the wayside or through the cracks of society. My father died from cancer so I like supporting charities that focus on cancer research and fighting cancer."
On Thursday, May 14, 2020, Mrs. Simon received a telephone call giving her the good news. "I just could not believe I could have been so lucky," she said. "It is like a dream come true!" The 1970 Chevelle will be delivered to Mrs. Simon later this month at her home for her to accept.
Mrs. Simon worked for the Philadelphia School System as a School Community Coordinator before retiring. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cruising, gardening, swimming and reading.
This lucky lady from Florida had this to say to the people who have yet to enter a Dream Giveaway, "You do not know what you could be missing. For a few dollars you could win a prize worth thousands of dollars. All donations help those less fortunate. They need your support more than ever right now with many families struggling to make ends meet."
New Beginning Children's Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c)3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they received, NBCH provided grants to several worthwhile charities, including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, National Guard Educational Foundation, Bright Pink, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 4KIDS, and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
