This 1970 Mercury Cougar, built by PAINTHOUSE in Cypress, TX, got temperatures rising at SEMA 2024 — so hot, in fact, that it was selected as a 2024 SEMA Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Feature Vehicle.

Inspired by the classic Cougar Eliminator, this "Top Eliminator" flexes its muscles to the max with its 2004 Ford 4.6 Terminator engine coupled with a TREMEC T56 Magnum 6-speed transmission. Steering and suspension are courtesy of Detroit Speed, Inc., and it all stops on a dime thanks to Baer brakes.

Inside, the barrage of impressive features continues, with Dakota Digital gauges and a remarkably rich leather interior done up in Moore & Giles Carlyle Sequoia, designed and upholstered to perfection by Sculpt Garage. SEMA was bursting at the seams with cool cars, but the coolest that day was truly this super hot 1970 Cougar, burning up the asphalt even while standing still.

Carlyle leather is consistently a top shelf automotive leather preferred by many restoration shops coast to coast, due to its impressive color uniformity and smooth matte finish. Available in an extensive palette of 77 colors.
