The Hellcat Dream Giveaway, a nationwide drawing sponsored by New Beginning Children's Homes, ended on March 31, 2020. William McCoy, age 71, from Louisiana, is the grand-prize winner of a 1,000-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat "Extreme Redeye" track-driven and autographed by drag-racing legend "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, plus $20,000 towards the prize taxes! The sweepstakes benefited eight amazing charities.
On March 31, 2020, Mr. McCoy made a donation to win the giveaway. Little did he know that his contribution had netted him the lucky, winning ticket. "My wife always donated to kids' charities and veterans' charities since I am a Vietnam vet so I donated to this [giveaway] not expecting to win," he said.
But that he did. On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, Mr. McCoy received a telephone call giving him the good news. The 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat arrived in his local town for him to accept earlier this month.
"The Dream Giveaway team did an outstanding job on this beast," he says. "The car is insane and getting to talk to 'Big Daddy' Don Garlits was a pleasure. I lost my wife like [Garlits] did and haven't cared about much since then except for my kids and grandkids. I was just trying to help. My wife would be so happy!"
Mr. McCoy is retired and spends his free time with his family and friends. He didn't waste any time entering some of the other giveaways and now people in his area are following his excellent example hoping some good luck rubs off on them!
New Beginning Children's Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c)3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they received, NBCH provided grants to several worthwhile charities, including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, National Guard Educational Foundation, Bright Pink, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 4KIDS, and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
