The Show & Tow Dream Giveaway, a nationwide drawing sponsored by New Beginning Children’s Homes, ended on September 24, 2019. Damon Jensen, age 44, from Texas, is the grand-prize winner. Included in the grand-prize package was a fully restored 1969 Camaro, a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado High Country Edition 4x4 truck, a Sundowner open-car hauler and a $10,000 bonus prize package from Eastwood, —plus $30,000 towards the prize taxes!
On December 8, 2018, Mr. Jensen made a donation to enter the Show & Tow Dream Giveaway and that would end up being one of the best decisions he ever made. “I entered the giveaway for a chance to win but the fact that the charities benefit too makes it even better,” he said. “I find all the charities are important but the two that resonated with me the most are MADD And Honor Flight. Being a police officer I see the horror of drunk driving more than I would ever want. I know MADD is doing all they can to make people more aware and pressure lawmakers to make some necessary changes. Honor Flight gives veterans the chance to see memorials for the conflicts and wars in which they risked their lives for the United States. They deserve so much more for the sacrifices they made.”
On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, he received the news via telephone that he had won the inaugural Show & Tow Dream Giveaway. “When I first got the call it was a total unexpected surprise because like everyone else I always said: I never win anything until I did. It took a long time for it to sink in. Many of my co-workers had the same reaction I had: No way, I never win anything! I had to show the video of the phone call and the notification on the Dream Giveaway webpage to several of them just to prove I won. I was actually starting to look into trading in my truck I already owned when I won so winning a new truck was great. Then to also win my dream car was amazing. I have always loved the first-gen Camaro. Every time I look at the Camaro in my garage I have to remind myself it is real, that it is my dream car sitting in front of me.”
Mr. Jensen is a Houston Police Department Sergeant with the department for the past 20 years. In his free time he enjoys traveling with his family. He also enjoys activities that keep him physically active like running and going to the gym. In the spring he plays in a lacrosse league.
The Show & Tow Dream Giveaway award ceremony was held on November 1, 2019, in Clearwater, Florida, inside the Dream Giveaway Garage. The award ceremony is available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube.
Mr. Jensen had this to say to the people who have yet to enter a Dream Giveaway promotion, “What are you waiting for? Enter! It is the real deal and you will never win if you never try. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars, and remember your donation helps some great charities, so there is a benefit even if you don’t win. I was really lucky and I know that. Anyone else can be really lucky, too.”
New Beginning Children’s Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c) 3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they received, NBCH provided grants to several worthwhile charities, including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, National Guard Educational Foundation, Bright Pink, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
