The GTO Dream Giveaway, a nationwide drawing sponsored by New Beginning Children’s Homes, ended on October 29, 2019. Ken Duncan, age 58, from Georgia, is the grand-prize winner. Included in the grand-prize package was a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge —plus $20,000 towards the prize taxes!

Mr. Duncan made several donations in 2019 to enter the Dream Giveaway sweepstakes but it was his donation on May 23, 2019, to enter the GTO Dream Giveaway that landed him the lucky ticket. “The best part about winning is the fact that you know your donation went to help some really great charities,” he said. “The other great part is winning an amazing prize package and getting to meet the Dream Giveaway team. New Beginning Children’s Homes was a charity that pulled at my heart strings a little bit because my grandmother and one of my aunts both grew up in a Georgia Baptist Children’s Home."

On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, he received the news via telephone that he had won the GTO Dream Giveaway. “When I got the call the first thought that went through my mind is: There is absolutely no way,” he said. “You enter because you are giving to charity and that’s a great thing but you always think nobody ever wins something like that until you do. My son, my wife and my neighbors all thought I bought another car because I was actually looking at a ’64 GTO convertible two weeks prior at a car show. They didn’t believe I actually won the car until they saw it online. When I saw the car in person for the first time and got the keys, I was absolutely elated. It is still one of those things where you stand back and go: I almost don’t believe this is really happening right now.

Mr. Duncan is retired. Prior to retiring he worked 16 years at Publix as a trainer in the produce department. He has always considered himself to be a car guy and has owned many classic cars. In his free time he enjoys working on his cars.

The GTO award ceremony was held on December 6, 2019, in Clearwater, Florida, inside the Dream Giveaway Garage. The award ceremony is available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube.

Mr. Duncan had this to say to the people who have yet to enter a Dream Giveaway promotion, “Something I use to say to the football players I use to coach is, ‘You’ll never have a chance at winning if you don’t play the game.’”

New Beginning Children’s Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c) 3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues.
