Each vehicle in the Red Metal Motors series is a custom-built, University-owned creation designed to appear at parades, community events, and special campus celebrations. These unique rides showcase the University’s pride and creativity while connecting students, alumni, and fans in a distinctive way.

When it’s time for a new model to take the spotlight, the previous vehicle will be auctioned to fund student scholarships and future Red Metal Motors projects—creating a lasting cycle of opportunity, engagement, and innovation.

Red Metal Motors isn’t a company—it’s a University of Utah scholarship initiative that turns custom vehicles into student opportunities!

Red Betty is the first vehicle in a collection of vehicles that will provide scholarship opportunities to students and opportunities to join the automotive aftermarket in ways that they never thought possible.

Red Betty is a 1953 Chevrolet 3100 pickup. It sits on an S10 chassis and is powered by a 5.3 LS and a 4L60E transmission. She is an officially licensed product for the University of Utah and includes custom branding elements throughout. Bedwood is installed from the University's Basketball court, a custom intake plate was made by Zac at Pyramid Optimized and branded with the interlocking U's, custom center caps, a bead rolled and pinstriped tailgate with the word UTAH, 3D printed badges on the hood, Speedhut customized the gauges with UTAH and the basketball flooring was also incorporated on the running boards and dashboard.
