Vehicle Story
The Super Bee started its life after a 20-year slumber, we discovered it in 2010 as a potential parts car. Once home, it quickly proved to be far too solid to dismantle, so it was brought back to life and put back on the road.
The car first evolved into a street cruiser before briefly stepping into drag racing duty at Osceola Dragway. During this phase, it received its Pearl Yellow paint, and rolled on Cragar wheels with Hoosier drag slicks, and was powered by a tired 440 backed by a 727 transmission, upgraded with Holley EFI.
Everything changed after the first Motor State Challenge. From that point on, the Super Bee transitioned into a true pro-touring build. Early handling upgrades included QA1 suspension components K-member, control arms, and double-adjustable shocks working with the factory torsion bar setup, along with four-piston Wilwood disc brakes. Wheel and tire setup shifted to 18-inch US Mags with performance street tires 215/30/18. Power was stepped up with a 512ci stroker big block controlled by Holley EFI and a strengthened 727 transmission using components from A&A Transmission.
A few years later, the car underwent another major transformation. The big block was replaced with a modern 392 Gen 3 HEMI controlled by a Holley Terminator Max X ECU, paired with a ZF 8HP70 eight-speed transmission. Suspension was upgraded again with a QA1 coilover system and Wilwood disc brakes, while a Moser Engineering 8¾ rear axle was added for the track.
This combination led to significant on-track success, including multiple wins at the Motor State Challenge, Holley MoParty, and local SCCA and Hoosier Challenge events. The car was also invited to premier events such as UMI King of the Mountain, Muscle in the Mountains at SEMA (twice), and displayed at PRI.
In 2025, the Super Bee entered its most extensive rebuild yet. Due to rust, the chassis was upgraded with a Speedtech Performance Extreme front subframe and rear torque arm, paired with QA1 MOD Series shocks coinciding with the public announcement of the Speedtech and QA1 partnership. Braking was upgraded to C7 Corvette based Wilwood six-piston brakes, and the rear end was replaced with a Dutchman 9-inch axle with Eaton Truetrac, connected by a 4-inch aluminum driveshaft from Action Machine. The car now rides on custom Forgeline wheels with 315/30/18 Hoosier Track Attack tires. custom Pypes exhaust, and features a one-off billet aluminum core support and radiator from Cold Case. Inside, modern seating and a Holley digital gauge package complete the interior.
Since its latest evolution, the Super Bee has continued to be driven and shown, attending events such as the Triple Crown of Rodding, Goodguys, and competing in the Ultimate Street Car series continuing its long-standing mission of being a car that’s built to be used, not parked.
