Vehicle Story
The 1986 Ford Mustang GT "Foxilla" is a tribute to unstoppable force, a street born titan stirring from decades of silence. It rises with the thunder of Ford's 7.3L Godzilla V8 beneath the sharp silhouette of a Foxbody, where ancient monsters strength collides with classic American muscle and raw mechanical fury. This is not just a Mustang. It is the awakening of a titan.
Starting with a clean, T-Top, hatchback Foxbody, it was completely stripped and was fitted with a RideTech Independent Rear Suspension kit and RideTech SLA front bolted to a Team Z tubular front crossmember. The BTR cammed 7.3L V8 was fitted, along with the 10 speed 10R80 transmission, then custom hand-made steel fender flares were added to achieve a subtle widebody look without too much aggression. In the end the car is about 3.5in rear and 4in wider in the front. Under those flares sit Toyo Tires Proxes Sport tires wrapped around the custom powder coated Forgeline CV3C wheels hide the 14" Wilwood brake kits front and rear. In the engine bay, the shock towers were removed and the engine bay was shaved. A close out panel was made for a clean look and to secure the custom Dewitts radiator. To modernize the car and fix the plastic wavy front bumper, a steel lower bumper was made with a large grill opening and recessed fog lights. Full ground effects were then added to the car to complete the look and help us achieve a clean subtle look. Underneath the floor was 3D scanned in-house and custom subframe connectors were added to help handle the new-found torque. The front bumper was also scanned to make new turn signals that mount flush to the bumper and allow the bodylines to continue through the lenses. The housings and lenses were then all 3D printed and the lenses were tinted to help hide them. 3D printed side mouldings were also made and the entire car gapped before being sprayed in BASF R-M Onyx HD Ford Shelter Green.
TMI Foxbody seats were used as a new base, Vlad Nesic of Nesic Interiors then stripped the material off and reshapped the foam for a thicker more modern look. He then used Relicate Recaro black leather to wrap the seats and added a Timelapse Satin distressed leather insert. Custom door panels were also fabricated and leather wrapped, alongside the dash pad. Dakota Digital RTX gauges with custom black brushed stainless appliques were fitted to the dash. The stock shifter was used with a Lokar shift knob retrofitted, and a 3D printed surround helped to simplify the center console look, eliminating the information center and 12v outlet. Custom stainless trim was again applied to the shifter surround. A new Ford windshield was used and the remaining original glass was cleaned up and installed as replacement glass does not exist. A Vintage Air Gen5 SureFit kit was installed and custom routing was used to hide all hoses. Overall the interior was designed to feel more upscaled and simplistic to match the outside of the car.
