Vehicle Story

I've always loved the early Ford Falcons and owned a few. I found this 1963 Falcon Futura on Facebook Marketplace and couldn't pass it up. It was a father and son project that had good bones. I was looking to replace my Autocross 2016 Ford Focus RS with a retro racer and this car fit the bill. The Falcon was as a mild Pro-Touring build with the entry level Total Cost Involved front tubular A arms and a 4 link triangulated rear suspension. A mild 340hp Ford Performance crate motor was installed for power though an AOD automatic. Its now a work in process as I get it more competitive for autocross and track days.

I first took the little Falcon to Rodney and Suzy at Suspension Geek in Tennessee where they upgraded the front brakes to a C6 Corvette setup. They also changed some of the TCI 4 link connections and added Viking Performance adjustable coil overs on all four corners. Then finished out the braking package with a Baer Master Cylinder, proportioning valve and braided lines. Rodney built a one off harness bar and ProCar seats with Simpson safety harnesses were added. 17x7 Mini-Lite wheels and BF Goodrich Rivals gave a great start on improving the handling.

Its now time to make some driveline modifications. First we'll be pulling the automatic and installing a new Tremec TKX 5 speed with at MalWood USA hydraulic clutch setup. The Currie rear-end has received a 3:80 TracLoc third member for and better launch off the line. Then its on to the motor were Edelbrock upgrades are on order. We'll first ditch the noisy "Red" Holley electric fuel pump and install the 1791 Edelbrock fuel pump. The Weiand intake comes off and we'll be upgrading to the new Edelbrock Chrome Plasma Finished Performer intake. Next will be the carb, off comes the Holley and we are going with the new Edelbrock VRS-4150. This switch will give the little Falcon a lot more adjustment opportunities for racing and street driving. The fuel bowl design will allow me to get off the corners without starving for fuel. We'll finish out the appearance package with polished Edelbrock 4264 valve covers and 4273 oval air cleaner.
