NTP Chevelle… Like many of these projects, it started as a casual conversation between a father and son. “If we were to build a car together, what would it be?”

Since he was young, Spencer Campbell had a passion for cars...

Spencer -- I was probably 12 when my dad let me get my first go-kart. I modified it and made it faster than we probably should have, mom had no idea what we were up to. We’ve probably all had somewhat similar introductions to this love of automobiles. Growing up, we had some fun cars in high school, and I helped my dad build a 350 sbc motor for one of them. That’s when my passion for cars started. When my son Sawyer entered high school, I started asking him if he were to build a car with me, what would it be. I didn’t get an answer until he took a shop class in his junior year of high school. He started talking to his friends about cars and one day he came home and said, “I know what I want to build, a 1970 Chevelle". I had a Model A on my mind, a ‘68 Chevy stepside truck, Corvettes, but never a Chevelle. I didn’t question him, I started looking immediately for the car and found it in January of 2020. A few months later, covid started taking its toll and before we knew it, we parked it in a trailer and it sat for the next 3 years.

Fast forward to SEMA 2022, we decided to ask a few friends if they would be interested in building a Chevelle. We initially got the expected response… Let’s not just build another Chevelle. In the past few years, some very nice Chevelles have been unveiled at SEMA. We wanted to be careful not to just build another Chevelle. Also in 2022, we took a 1979 Wagoneer to SEMA. It was modified in every way you can think of, but we left the body lines stock. That can be difficult to do when you have 67 companies involved. We love looking at builds that have modifications most people don’t notice. It takes collaboration with the right people to pull it off. We are grateful to be associated with a group like this. We have a core group of “gear heads” we like to kick ideas around with. Our conversations on design usually start with Dom Tucci Design. We’ve known Dom and his dad Dave from Tucci Hot Rods for probably 15 years and they are some of the most talented guys in the business. Zac Zamudio from Pyramid Optimized and Matt Zurbrick from 5 O’clock Garage were instrumental in the Wagoneer Build. Rob and Nate Staker from Resurgence did most of the work on the Wagoneer and decided to join us again on the Chevelle.

At Dom's suggestion, we decided to pay tribute to the Trans AM racing era. Mike Kidd from TREMEC was an integral partner on the Wagoneer build. As we were discussing this new project with Mike, he suggested we talk with Johnny at BluePrint Engines. Johnny told us about the 427 iron block they were coming out with and thought this build would be perfect to debut the new crate engine. As the project gained momentum, we reached out to Karen at ProCharger and they decided to join the build. Before we knew it, we had a full track suspension from UMI, big brakes from BAER, new sheet metal from AMD, BASF paint, fuel and exhaust system form Aeromotive Group, the good stuff from Lokar, and the list goes on. This tech sheet is full of some of the best brands in the business.

--From initial teardown to final assembly, Spencer and Sawyer have been hands on all the way through. Sawyer has mastered sand blasting, grinding and anything else he was needed for along the way. With the exception of the engine and suspension, all products were shipped to Spencer's house. With over 5o companies involved, It was critical to document, organize and keep track of a lot of parts.

Nothing to prove… Well, with more than 800hp at the crank, we added a little reminder to the speedo for the driver. MPH was replaced with NTP.
